What does community service look like at Webutuck?
Community service is a placement at a non-profit agency, institution, organization, and/or with individuals from the community. This placement is not an internship and the student cannot receive financial compensation for their service. Volunteer work outside of the suggested list will need to be pre-approved by Mrs. Chason.
When can students begin their commitment to obtain the required hours?
Students can begin collecting hours between July 1 and April 30 of their senior year of high school. Community service must be done on a student's free time: during unassigned periods during the school day, after school, on weekends, or during the summer.
How do students get to their community service placements?
Transportation must be arranged by the students if he/she chooses a placement outside of school.
Do club or athletic participation count as community service?
Being a member of an athletic team or school club will not count towards the community service requirement.
